San Francisco Sierra Club

What is the San Francisco Sierra Club: San Francisco Group?

San Francisco is one of eight groups that form the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. Out of the more than 40,000 members associated with the local chapters, San Francisco boasts more than 10,000. The main aim of the club is to host social events and organize conservation efforts about the city, such as cleaning up local parks, encouraging recycling, and combating toxic pollution. Wetlands protection, water conservation, and the Golden Gate Park are also concerns of the organization.

Brief History

The San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club was first established in 1924, embracing members in Alameda, Marin, Contra Costa, and San Mateo counties. At the time, the first Chapter Chair was Orwell Logan with subcommittees that followed in Membership, Trails, Education, Entertainment, and Local Walks Schedule. Later on, San Mateo joins the Loma Prieta Chapter.

Today, an Executive Committee manages the SF Group, where new policies are handled through a Conservation Committee. Sub Committees take on the responsibility of discussing policy in detail, recommending policies, and working on projects that involve Transportation, Open Space, Planning, and Political issues. The meetings are normally open to the public.

Membership Details

Members of the San Francisco Sierra Club enjoy various outings and social gatherings – keeping conservation as a high priority in their objectives. They strive to improve transit, reduce toxic waste and organize cleanup efforts, make plans for water treatment, and preserve the beauty of the Golden Gate Park.

The Conservation Committee meets every third Tuesday of the month (6pm to 8pm) at the Sierra Club National Headquarters. All members and non-members are encouraged to attend. Group Executive Committee meetings take place between 8pm and 9:30pm following the conservation meeting.

Although it is not hard to get certified but it keeps me busy. I’ve also attained certification of another course of testking HP2-K08 which I had passed last two months back. Also I am trying to complete my pending thesis of testking 70-444 project which i hope will be completed soon. I really enjoyed my stay over here and have knowledge while stopping by.
